This Tuesday we held the final rounds of the Swiss section of Leominster Chess Clubs 2024 Championship. Read on to find out who made the cut to the semi finals!

Round 7 results
The round began with the current table leaders Stephen Priestley and John Preece both picking up the full point for a win. Max Arnold stepped up to the seniors section and got a win against Will Mears.
Round 8 results
In round eight our two leaders finally came head to head – Stephen Priestly edged out John Preece with the black pieces in a tight and competitive game. Stephens win sees him secure the top spot at the end of this Swiss rounds by half a point! Craig Bryon scored his second win of the evening with white against Max and John Nurse overcame his earlier loss to win against Roy Arnold.

Round 7 results (juniors)
We began round seven with Rufus taking on Eve, both leaders in the table – the game was close and ended in a draw with both players claiming half a point. Elsewhere there were wins for Leon, Jack and Lewis.
Round 8 results (juniors)
Lewis continued his winning streak into the final round of the Swiss, claiming the full point with white against Rufus. This win was enough to lift Lewis to first place in the table, half a point ahead of Rufus – congratulations Lewis! Kayden scored a win with the black pieces against Eve to further shake up the top of the table.
