The Leominster Chess Club Championship 2024 continued for a third week last Tuesday evening, results of rounds five and six were as follows.
Results
Round 5 results
Round five saw John Preece pip John Hargreaves to the win with the black pieces. Craig Byron scored a win with white and John Nurse toppled Will Mears for a full point.
Round 6 results
John Preece scored the full two points this week with a second win, this time against Craig Byron. This win sees John jump into first place in the overall standings. John Nurse also secured his second win, this time with black.

Juniors
Round 5 results (juniors)
Round five of the juniors started quietly as a few of our young competitors arrived a little later. However, the round was not lacking in excitement as Kayden beat Lewis with the white pieces and Rufus got the win with black.
Round 6 results (juniors)
Round six saw a lot more competitors enter the arena – we had a rare (for this tournament!) draw between Kayden and Rufus (both battling for the top spot in the standings) and wins for Lewis, Leon and Jack.
