Over the past few weeks we have been delighted to host chess training sessions at Leominster Chess Club. These sessions, led by our current club champion Stephen Priestley (302514H), are open to all players to join and they run for around 30 minutes at the start of our weekly chess club.
Week one saw Stephen walk through several openings for both black and white, explaining the concepts behind these and what each player should be aiming to achieve when playing them.

The following week Stephen took us through a famous chess game and explained the middlegame moves that made this memorable. We had great interaction from our younger players who followed along intently!
We look forward to hosting more of these sessions in the coming weeks, if you would like to improve any particular area of your game please let us know, or chat to Stephen directly during a club evening.
