
The 2025 Leominster Championship swiss section crosses it’s halfway point with rounds 5 and 6 played last week. The results were as follows:
Results: Rounds 5 and 6
Round 5 began with defending Champion Stephen Priestly taking the win the black pieces against John Hargreaves. John Preece got the better of Daniel Timm following their first game which ended in a draw.

Round 6 saw another run of completely decisive games, John Hargreaves had a tough week of it, pitched against two strong competitors and Richard Croot took the full point with black. Steve Olrog played well to outwit John Preece for the win and Dylan Connor scored a win against Stephen Priestley with black, marking a rare dropping of points for Stephen in the Leominster Championship.

Junior results: Rounds 5 and 6
Round 5 in the junior section saw one draw between Sebastian and Mia. Archie came away with the win against Arthur and current Junior Champion Lewis won with black against Theo.

In round 6 we saw another win for Alex, this time against Hector. Theo bounced back from the last round with a win against Mia and Archie and Lewis played out a tense draw!

The Championship continues next Tuesday (this week is casual chess, as we pause for Half Term) and everyone is welcome to join in!
