
The 2025 Leominster Championship kicked off last Tuesday for both our regular and junior players. The Championship starts with 8 rounds (over 4 weeks) of Swiss matched rapid games, where players have 30 minutes each. The results of the first two rounds were as follows:

And so we begin another year of the Leominster Championship; the first round of 2025 saw John Hargreaves and John Preece play out a tough draw. Reigning club Champion Stephen Priestley toppled Daniel Timm to take a full point and Dylan Connor edged our John Nurse on time.

In round two Stephen Priestly scored another full point in a win against Steve Olrog and John Preece got the better of Dylan to snatch a full point from the round.

Junior results: Rounds 1 and 2
In our junior section we begin with reigning Junior Champion Lewis Mears back to winning ways against Hector, just getting the better of a tight game. All of games were decisive in the round with Mia, Arthur, Archie, Alex and Eve all taking a full point.

Round two produced a single draw in the battle between Archie and Eve which ended in stalemate. Lewis captured another full point against Mia and Alex maintained pressure by also taking his second full point.
